Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a procedure that refines the top layer of your skin, through a method of controlled surgical scraping. This treatment softens the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smother appearance. It is most often used to improve the appearance of facial skin  left scarred by accidents or previous surgery and smoothen out fine facial wrinkles around the mouth. The procedure  usually last for minutes to more than an hour at an out patient clinic, and can be done in stages depending on the area of concern. The skin will appear quite red and with some swelling which usually subside after a few days to weeks. The wound heals after 2 to 3 weeks. This can be done under local anesthesia or intravenous sedation depending on the extent of the procedure and comfortability of the patient and surgeon.
