Chemical Peel

Chemical peeling is the application of an exfoliating agent to the skin surface. These peeling  agent could be applied alone or in combination with other dermapeeling agents. Chemical peel is used for various indications either in cosmetic and pathologic changes in the skin. This may address the fine lines of the face, pigmentary disturbances, actinic keratosis, solar elastosis and solar lentiges. This may improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. Phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) are the agents used for this purpose. The precise formula used may be adjusted to meet each patient's needs. All chemical peels carry some risk but it is normally a safe out patient procedure when it is performed by a qualified, experienced plastic surgeon. However, some unpredictability and risks such as infection and scarring, while infrequent, are possible.
